Edibles Guide for Beginners
Edibles Guide for Beginners
Everything you need to know about cannabis edibles — how they work, safe dosing, timing, and simple recipes. Start low, go slow, and enjoy responsibly.
Why Edibles Feel Different
Decarboxylation
Raw cannabis must be heated (decarbed) to convert THCA into active THC. Store-bought edibles are already decarbed.
Liver Metabolism
When eaten, THC is processed by the liver into 11-hydroxy-THC — a much stronger, longer-lasting form of THC. This is why edibles feel more intense and last longer than smoking.
Start Low, Go Slow
Subtle mood lift, no strong high
Mild effects, good first try
Noticeable high, longer duration
Strong effects — use with caution
Wait at least 2 hours before taking more. Effects can take up to 2 hours to fully appear.
Common Edible Forms
Gummies & Candies
Precise dosing, discreet, long shelf life. Most popular for beginners.
Brownies & Baked Goods
Classic homemade option. Use cannabutter for consistent strength.
Drinks & Tinctures
Faster onset than solids (30–60 min). Easy to dose with droppers.
