Why Sous Vide Is the Home Cook’s Best Tool

Exact temperature held for hours = maximum potency and terpene preservation. No hot spots, no stirring, no scorching. Perfect for small or large batches.

Simple Ingredients (1 batch)

• 1 cup unsalted butter or neutral oil
• 7–10 grams decarbed cannabis flower
• 1 cup water (for butter only)
• Optional: ½ tsp lecithin

Step-by-Step Sous Vide Process

  1. 01

    Prep the bag

Place butter/oil, water (if using butter), and decarbed flower in a vacuum-seal bag or zip-top bag.

  2. 02

    Seal the bag

Vacuum seal or use water displacement method to remove air.

  3. 03

    Set the sous vide

Preheat water bath to 160–180°F. Submerge sealed bag. Cook 2–4 hours for butter/oil.

  4. 04

    Strain & store

Remove bag, strain through cheesecloth into jars. Cool, label, and refrigerate or freeze.

Pro Home Cook Tips

Use 170°F for 3 hours max potency
Multiple small bags = easier straining
Add lecithin for better absorption
Clip bag to side of container
Perfect for overnight runs
Label bag with strain & start time

5 Mistakes to Avoid

  • Setting temperature above 185°F
  • Skipping decarboxylation
  • Using non-food-grade bags
  • Overfilling the bag
  • Forgetting to label final jars
Sous vide delivers the most consistent, potent infusions with almost zero effort.
